Fish Loaf

Each year for Thanksgiving, Todd's family likes to do an out-of-the-ordinary dinner. This tradition's been going on for years, and each year there's always a new dish with an interesting twist. Last year, for example, Todd's mom had hit a deer on election night and not wanting to waste it, her son-in-law came out to the scene of the accident, field-dressed it (it's legal in their state), and we had it for Thanksgiving.

What's For Dinner? Sausage and Mushroom Pizza

Sausage and Mushroom Pizza

I love pizza night. It always falls after a long day, when we have lots of little things in the fridge that need finishing. I don't mean leftovers, I mean scraps - little bits of onion, tomatoes, cheese - stuff too big to just throw away, but not big enough to use on its own. That's when we pull out the pizza dough.

Brown Rice Fritters - Parmesan Style

Brown Rice Fritters

Out of the May 2008 Saveur came an inspiration for an Italian-style comfort dinner...brown rice fritters topped with melted mozzarella, swimming in tangy tomato sauce. This is a great vegetarian dish, for those who still eat eggs and cheese.

This is done in two stages - you make the brown rice fritters first, and then you add the accompanying ingredients to make it Parmesan-style.

Quinoa, Green Olive, and Tomato Terrine

Towering Terrine

In the spirit of trying new things, we pulled this recipe from our new Stephane Reynaud book, Terrine. And in full disclosure I must say, this recipe has no pork!
